GAMES STUDENT

Joshua Crabb

About Me

I am studying for a BSc (Hons) in Game Design and Programming at Staffordshire University. I am passionate about pursuing a career in the games industry and working to become a Technical Designer. In my spare time, I enjoy character art and development.

I am particularly interested in retro consoles and their games; I was introduced to the original PlayStation early on and spent my youth playing games such as Crash Bandicoot, Tomb Raider and Tekken. This has made me an avid collector of games and consoles.

During my time off from University, I worked on developing a project called Ember with two friends of mine.

My outside interests are playing card games such as Yu-Gi-Oh and Vanguard. I also enjoy cycling, Badminton, the gym, and socialising with my friends. I am also a Voice Actor in many fan projects.

Charity work is very important to me as it gives me a great sense of helping less fortunate people. I have been involved in a lot of charitable work through PACE camp, inexpensive children's summer camps, and NCS, where we raised £2000 for disabled children and adults. I also got involved in a gameathon with my old college confetti to raise money for charity.

Lastly, I felt very proud to have of all of the things I have achieved while studying games, such as:

  • Most Improve Student of the Year Award Confetti (2021)

  • Student Of The Year Confetti (2022)

  • A Finalist in the Tiga Game Awards (2023)

I am currently achieving a 1st class degree and plan to continue this level of quality in my second year.
